St. Charles Girl Scout camp set July 24-28

The St. Charles Parish Girl Scouts summer day camp for girls in grades K-12 will be held July 24-28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New Life Community Church, 134 Lakewood Drive, Luling. This year’s camp theme is “Whatever Goes.”

Christy Crotwell, St. Charles Day Camp director, called the camp an opportunity to meet fellow Girl Scouts and grow skills.

“Girl Scout Summer Day camp is an opportunity for girls to get out and meet other girls their age from within their own community, not just their neighborhood or school, while learning life skills and lessons and having fun,” Crotwell said.

She added, “We encourage the girls to work together, be of strong character, have open minds and, most importantly, to live by the Girl Scout Law.”

Activities for the campers include dance, crafts, STEM, beauty and health. Girls will be placed in Daisy, Brownie or Junior units with campers of similar ages.

The cost is $30 per camper or $45 for non-Girl Scouts, which includes a $15 membership fee good through Sept. 30.

Limited space is available and registration is accepted on a first-come basis.

Before and after care are provided and will be an additional $50 for the week or $3 per morning or $7 afternoon session.

Girl Scouts in grades seven to graduating seniors are encouraged to volunteer as program aides at no cost to the girl to earn service hours.

Adult volunteers are also needed.
