St. Charles Borromeo hosts XXX Super Bowl Festival

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will host its 30th annual Little Red Church Food and Fun Festival on April 30 through May 2.

This year’s fair will be Super Bowl-themed, with the title of St. Charles Borromeo’s XXX Super Fest.

Father Harry Bugler with the church said that those attending could expect food, music, games and all sorts of rides.

Ronald Rodrigue, administrative assistant at St. Charles Borromeo School, said that this year’s theme will offer visitors Black and Gold game prizes, including a nice marble plaque with Saints pictures and information from their championship season.

Entry into the festival is free and about 3,000 to 5,000 people attend each year, Rodrigue said.

“You don’t have to spend any money. You can just listen to bands if you want,” Rodrigue said.

For those who are interested in rides, Lowry Brothers Amusements will be providing as many as they can fit into the site. Visitors can buy individual tickets for rides or a wristband that will be good for all rides all weekend.

The festival will be open on Friday from 6-10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Music Mania DJ will perform Friday, Bucktown Allstars will perform Saturday and The Topcats will perform Sunday.
“(The Topcats) have been playing our fair for at least 12 or 15 years and they’re a big draw for the crowd,” Rodrigue said.

The festival will take place in the back field of St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan.
