LAPLACE – The Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center is planning its unusual, but popular, “Plop Drop” festival May 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at the facility, 152 Shadow Brook Lane in LaPlace.
Anita Hartzell, the center’s founder and director, said the family event will include food, music, games and a plop drop.
In the plop drop, the arena will be divided into 400 segments. Each square will be sold for $10. Participants will have a chance to win $1,000 if a horse “plops” on his or her square, Hartzell said.
There will be two sets of 400 tickets, with two $1,000 winners. Winners do not need to attend the event. Among other activities being planned are a chicken drop, and other games.
Proceeds will benefit the center, which provides riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities. It serves the New Orleans area.
Tickets are available online at www.gnotrc.com, or by calling 985-651-5239 or 504-453-5509.
