NORCO – The annual Norco Christmas Parade will pay tribute to local World War II veterans and other military personnel as it rolls through the streets of Norco for the eighth consecutive year.
“Norco Noel: Norco Remembers Pearl Harbor,” is the theme of this year’s event, which will roll Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
The parade will follow a route from River Road up Good Hope Street and down Apple Street on the first Sunday in December.
The lighting of the community Christmas tree will follow at the Capital One bank parking lot, and children will be offered free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
This year’s date just lent itself to a military theme, parade co-chairman Marty Luquet said.
Dec. 7, 1941, was the day Japan’s military bombed the U.S. Navy base at Pearl Harbor which resulted in the nation’s involvement in World War II.
“It’s a great opportunity for our parade to pay tribute to those who have served our country,” Luquet said.
The parade’s organizing committee is inviting all local World War II veterans and other military personnel to take part in this year’s holiday event. The parade welcomes a variety of participants including, but not limited to, floats, marching groups, antique cars, horse riders, pageant queens and marching bands. […]
