Hunter education summer classes

KILLONA – The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office will give hunter education classes on the dates listed below at the sheriff’s firing range in Killona.

State law requires that all individuals born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 must obtain a license and must be a least 10 years old to be certified. Courses will cover firearm safety, survival, first aid and wildlife identification.
Full class dates are: June 19 and 20, July 10 and 11, and July 24 and 25. Field days are: Aug. 22 and Sept. 12.

The times for 2-day classes are Fridays from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two field days are available to people who’ve taken online courses with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. The time for field days are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be held on Saturdays.
