Domestic violence Christmas tree lighting

LULING – The public is invited to the 3rd annual “Christmas Tree Lighting” on Sunday, Dec. 22 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The event is held in memory of Santana Ciara Marshall, a victim of domestic violence abuse who was tragically gunned down by an ex-boyfriend.

Shanna Marshall Downs, mother of Santana, along with Ivy Williams of Alpha Daughters of Zion Organization, hope events such as this will raise awareness of domestic violence.

Ivy Williams said, “Santana’s family  continues to hurt and will always have a missing link in their family’s chain but their faith is extremely strong. I thank God that he has turned Shanna’s tragedy into triumph.”

The organization’s mission is to be an advocate for women and teens who are experiencing domestic violence abuse. They urge community members to realize the signs of abuse and abandon that situation.

Please bring a Christmas ornament to remember Santana and those who are victims of domestic violence abuse. The ceremony will include motivational speakers, liturgical dancers, carolers and a Christmas dinner.

This event will be held at Fashion Golf at 223 Joe Louis Lane in Hahnville.
