DHS choir performs songs from ‘Glee’

DESTREHAN – The Destrehan Show Choir will be performing their 2010 show entitled “Don’t Stop Believing” on Wednesday Nov. 10, Thursday Nov. 11 and Friday Nov. 12 in the DHS Auditorium at 7 p.m. They will also perform the show on Sunday at a 4 p.m. matinee.

The show will include popular music from the 1960s and 1980s including “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, “I Can’t Fight This Feeling” by REO Speedwagon, “Jump” by Van Halen and “Somebody to Love” by Queen Tickets for all shows are $5 and will be available from choir members or at the door. This year’s show features songs heard on the popular TV show “Glee.”

“I picked the music from Glee for a few reasons, one being that the arrangements were so good, and that doesn’t happen with pop music too often. Another reason is that the kids in the DHS choir can really relate to the kids portrayed in the show,” said Choir Director Michael Townsend. “We have been having fun with this show and the kids sound really good. Paris Jennings has done terrific with the choreography and we are going to have a great show.”

Townsend said that the show scheduled on Nov. 12 will be cancelled if the DHS Wildcat football team makes the playoffs.
