American Legion Post 131 is holding its “Mr. Charlie Oubre Jr.” Memorial Blood Drive with the Oschsner Blood Bank from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Dec. 1 at American Legion Post, 103 Milling Ave., Luling. Eat a healthy meal prior to donating.
Bring a photo ID and individuals taking medications for high blood pressure and cholesterol can donate. All donors will receive an insulated drawstring backpack and a meal. The post is also collecting items for residents of the South Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. Needed items include: slippers for men and women; cheap watches, denture adhesives, Efferdent, shampoo (regular size), Tootsie Roll Pops, Hershey bars, “cheaters” glasses, snack packs (pudding or Jell-O, scented soaps (lavender or fruity scented), eye glass cleaning packs, Mardi Gras beats (new), Kleenex, and anything with the Saints or LSU logo (shirts, stuffed animals, etc.).
