THIBODAUX – The Lafourche Heritage Society will hold its 32 annual seminar on history and genealogy Aug. 9. It will be held in the banquet room at the Envie Restaurant at the Howard Johnson.
This year’s speakers will include Jay Schexnaydre, who will speak on the “Historic Cemeteries of the River Parishes,” Bobby Freyou on “Historical Land Title Records in the state of Louisiana,” Augusta Elmwood on “the French Colony of Saint Domingue: Migrations and Sources,” and a presentation on the cypress logging industry by Hugh Brown and JoAnne Plessala.
Seminar participants who pre-register will be included in a count for a buffet lunch. Same-day registration will be accepted at the door, but will not include lunch.
Registration and coffee will be from 8:30 a.m. The program will begin at 9:15 a.m. and will end around 3:30 p.m.
To pre-register, send names to be received before Aug. 6 with checks payable to Lafourche Heritage Society for $28 per participant to P.O. Box 913, Thibodaux, LA 70302.
