ACT preparation class

DESTREHAN – ACT Prep sessions to help prepare those taking the ACT will be available to students who are residents of St. Charles Parish on Saturday, Sept. 22 at Destrehan High.

Connie Gassen, curriculum specialist for grades 9-12, said the class has been held for seven years and has been popular in the past.

“It started out as a response that a parent wanted to know what schools were doing for ACT preparation,” Gassen said. “It helps the kids to improve and sometimes meet their goals and they move from one score to another. Sometimes it is a matter of learning some tips.”

Students who attend will receive study materials and snacks and will take a practice test to assess the areas of the ACT test they need to work on.

Gassen said a variety of parish residents take the test.
“We have kids in seventh grade, we have kids who have already graduated from high school and kids who have already taken the ACT,” Gassen said.

English, Math, and Reading sessions will be offered from 9 a.m. until noon and repeated from 1-4 p.m. Registration is $10 for one session or for both a morning and an afternoon session. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. for the morning session and 12:15 p.m. for the afternoon session.

Seating is limited. On-site registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact Toni Nottingham at 985-785-7265 or at
