For more than a month now, we’ve all seen the roped-off areas along Luling’s River Road and in parts of Des Allemands – and if you’re from here, then you know that means – it’s time for Mardi Gras.
The St. Charles Parish parades are truly a community event, with residents making sure they have a great view of the passing festivities.
Krewe of Lul
Saturday, Feb. 2
Noon
LULING – The Krewe of Lul celebrates their 31st year with nearly 900 riders and a special grand marshal, Hokie Gajan.
That’s right, the former LSU and Saints football player will reign as part of this year’s royalty.
Parade organizers say that spectators can expect to see 30 floats, the Hahnville High School band, local fire departments and festival kings and queens.
The 2008 king and queen are Irvon “Cookie” and Dolores Gomez.
Krewe of Des Allemands

DES ALLEMANDS – The Krewe of Des Allemands will roll this year with 18 homemade floats and around 360 riders.
The krewe was formed in 1995 after the local Lion’s Club stopped parading.
