Wildcat kicker selects Tulane

Destrehan High School place-kicker Ryan Rome grew up a LSU fan, but his loyalty has changed over the past few weeks. Rome, who is considered one of the elite place-kickers in the state of Louisiana, has announced that he has accepted a scholarship offer from Tulane University.

During the 2008 season Rome has connected on 9 of his 12 field goal attempts and made all 37 extra-point tries.

What also makes him such a top prospect is that he has kicked 88% of his 2008 kickoffs into the end zone and he has also punted for the defending Class 5-A state champions.

Rome had drawn interest from Louisiana Tech, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Southeastern Louisiana and Stanford before selecting the Green Wave in the recruiting process.

Rome becomes the second prospect from the Destrehan team to accept a football scholarship over the past few weeks. A few weeks back Destrehan standout defensive tackle Darrington Sentimore announced that he would be playing for former LSU head coach Nick Saban and that he would be attending the University of Alabama.
