Advance to Babe Ruth World Series in Massachusetts

The St. Charles Parish U16 All-Stars made other state champs from the southwest region of the country look silly as they cruised to the Babe Ruth Southwest Regional Championship.

In five games, the St. Charles squad outscored their opponents 71-12, including a 17-0 win over Del Rio, Texas in the title game.

A nine-run fourth inning keyed the St. Charles All-Stars to victory in the championship. Mia Casanova got the inning off to a great start by bringing in two runs on a single. Katie Brady followed with an RBI double, and Allyson Colomb singled in another run to increase the St. Charles lead.

The rout continued with RBI doubles by Stephanie Chester and Sydney Matherne.

Morgan Foret put an exclamation point on the nine-run inning with a two-run home run.

St. Charles’ Cassie Legendre kept Del Rio off the scoreboard all four innings she was on the rubber. She allowed just two hits while striking out three.

St. Charles took an early lead in the first inning, scoring four runs on a three-run home run by Brady and an RBI single by Casanova.

The All-Stars brought home two runs in the second inning and matched that total in the third.

In the second, the 16U All-Stars scored on a two-run double by Foret that brought home Taylor Lucich and Matherne.

In the third, Brady scored the inning’s first run, which was followed by Colomb’s single to score Abby Nette.

Brady and Foret both finished with four RBIs in the win.

Foret was also named the MVP of the Southwest Regional.

The team is now headed to Pittsfield, Mass. to represent the southwest in the Babe Ruth World Series, which will be held from July 30-Aug. 5.
