Tigers remain perfect in district play

The Hahnville boys soccer team improved to 4-0 in district play after beating Terrebonne and East St. John.

The Tigers picked apart Terrebonne 4-1 after coming out in attack mode. Hahnville took plenty of early shots and the pressure resulted in several corner kicks for senior Kyle Salles. Colby Orgeron turned one of those into a goal, scoring with a perfect header to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.  Later in the first half, Craig Ford stole possession from Terrebonne and worked the ball through the right side of Terrebonne’s defense before sending it to the back of the net for a 2-0 Tiger lead.

Hahnville continued applying pressure in the second half and managed to keep the ball on Terrebonne’s side of the field for most of the game.

The Tiger lead increased to 3-1 after Ford threaded the ball through to freshmen Griffin Joliboix for a shot and goal.

Terrebonne would cut into the lead with a goal off of a misplayed ball by Hahnville. However, Tiger senior Dakota Evans came through with a tap in goal off of another corner kick by Salles to ice the game.

After the big win, the Tigers traveled to Reserve and knocked off East St. John 4-2.

Both teams came out with a lot of energy and the ball flew to both sides of the field for much of the first half. The Tigers eventually settled into their possession game, using key passes to set up some early goal-scoring opportunities.  Orgeron gave the Tigers a lead after taking a pass from Ford, dribbling through defenders and firing a shot into the net.

Later, senior defender Thane Jurenka would get into the scoring action with an assist to Kevin Falgout, who took the shot and scored to give Hahnville a 2-0 lead.

This goal seemed to spark ESJ to pick up the pace. The Wildcats got the Tigers out of their possession game into a long ball game that cleared the Tiger pressure and resulted in two late ESJ goals to tie the game at 2-2 heading into the second half.

In the second half, Hahnville got back on track and put the pressure back on the Wildcats. After noticing that the ESJ goalie was out of the box, senior Brennen Samaha fired a shot from midfield that floated into the goal and gave Hahnville a 3-2 lead.

Hahnville scored again when senior Chase Ledet took the ball up the right side of the field deep into ESJ territory before crossing it to sophomore Evan Curole. Curole headed the ball into the back of the net to secure the 4-2 Hahnville win.
