Tigers finish 13th at state meet

The Hahnville Tigers finished with 12 points at the LHSAA State Track and Field Championships to finish 13th in the state. This was a vast improvement from last year when the Tigers were shutout at the state meet.

For the boys, Rickey Preston finished 8th in the state in the javelin throw, Beau Robinson had a pair of 8th place finishes in the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run and Breanne Bias finished 8th in the 200 meter dash as the sole participant for the Lady Tigers.

The Tigers got all of their points from three 4th place finishes, two from Bryce Robinson and one from Brandon Singleton. Singleton ran a 14.63 in the 110 meter high hurdles and Robinson ran a 4:25 and a 9:41 in the 1600 meter and the 3200 meter, respectively. Both of Robinson’s times are new school records.

In the Para-Ambulatory division, Brock Bourgeois scored a 2nd place finish in the discus, a 3rd place finish in the shot put and javelin and a 4th place finish in the 100 meter dash.

The Tigers are relatively young and should be in contention for another district championship next year when they more into their new district with some familiar foes, such as Central and South Lafourche, Thibodaux, and H.L. Bourgeois.
