Swim team hopes to rebound after recent loss

Following their recent loss to Bellemeade Country Club, 589-398, Willowdale Swim Team Head Coach, Carroll Bohnsack hopes to rebound and take the win against the Southern Yacht Club next Wednesday. “We had a tough time with our first loss, but we are striving to win our future meets,” said the head coach.
Team members show much promise this season as the coaches are changing things up a bit from previous seasons. “We are trying something new this year. We are taking the kids walking and jogging, exploring different kinds of exercise, so that the kids can build up their endurance and be better swimmers,” said Assistant Coach Alyssa Matherne.

“There are several swimmers on the team that show promise,” said the head coach. “Drew Wood, 17, is an excellent swimmer. All the kids look up to him and want to be like him,” said the Assistant Coach. She went on to say, “We also have Betsy Chester, who is the Mom of the group. She really knows what to say to motivate the group.” “Tylor Massimini, 10, is also a great swimmer. His is especially good with the breast stroke,” said Coach Bohnsack.

“Blaise Wise is an exceptional swimmer. At only 8 years-old, he is our superstar. His butterfly stroke is really beautiful to watch,” said Coach Bohnsack. “Another extremely hard worker is Shannon Briner, 15. She works very hard and shows a lot of talent in the water,” concluded the coaches.

Willowdale Country Club Swim Team Head Coach, Caroll Bohnsack, is a veteran swimmer. She swam for Hahnville High School before attending the University of Tampa to continue her swimming. Assistant Coach Alyssa Matherne, also a veteran swimmer, swam for Hahnville High School.

With skilled coaches and talented swimmers, the sky is the limit for this swim team as they go on to conquer other swimmers in the New Orleans area.
