St. Charles horse rider named Grand Champion

Raven Winters, daughter of Tanya and Keith Frickey, was named the Grand Champion at the 4H State Horse Show.

With the win, Winters qualified to participate at the Southeast U.S. Regionals, which includes 13 states and will be held in Georgia at the end of July.

“The horse program takes a lot of training and a lot of work,” LSU AgCenter Associate Vice Chancellor Dwight Landreneau told the participants. “We teach you leadership, citizenship and sportsmanship. I hope you will take what you learn here to better your community.”

On her horse “Angel,” representing St. Charles Parish 4H, Winters competed against other 4H members from around the state in the 14 and over age group Western Pleasure Event.
