Hahnville will play for a state championship Sunday.
The Lady Tigers earned a 6-4 win over St. Amant in the Division I non-select semifinals in Sulphur Saturday to advance to the championship game, which will be played at 3 p.m. Sunday at Frasch Park.
Hahnville (23-12), the 8th seed in the bracket, will face No. 10 seed Live Oak (23-14) which defeated No. 3 West Monroe 4-2 in the other semifinal game. It will be Hahnville’s first state title game since 2018. The Tigers will be seeking their first state crown since 2011.
The 5th seeded Gators rallied to tie the game 4-4 after falling behind Hahnville 4-0. The Tigers shook it off quickly, with the top of the order coming through to retake the lead. Adriana Walton led off with a single, then stole second and reached third on an error. Emma Jackson bunted for a single and brought Walton home for the go-ahead run – Jackson got to second on the play.
London Lambert was intentionally walked and Shelby Theriot was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. St. Amant pitcher Brently Bourque got the next two batters out, but Jordyn Chaix drew a walk to force home another run, making it 6-4.
The two-run lead was plenty enough for Lambert to slam the door when she took the mound in the bottom of the seventh. Lambert struck out two batters before getting the game-ending fly out, which Emersen Tregre put away to seal the win – and a spot in the championship game.
Jackson singled home Hahnville’s first run of the day in the third inning. Jackson would score on an error later in the inning after a Theriot bunt. Rylee Villasenor’s sacrifice fly to plate Jordan Lirette made it 3-0 and Sophie Baudouin hit a line drive to center field for an RBI single to set HHS up with a 4-0 lead.
St. Amant (25-8) pushed two runs across in the fourth inning, Devin Tanner scoring on a passed ball before Kaydi Landry’s sacrifice fly scored Kyndall Landry to make it 4-2. Kenley Triche’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth scored Kyndall Landry and made it 4-3, then Maddie Stevens’ RBI single tied the game at 4.
Jackson went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs. Walton went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.
Lambert went the complete game to earn the win on the mound, allowing three earned runs on nine hits and one walk. She struck out four.
Hahnville got to St. Amant starting pitcher Kyndall Landry early – she allowed just one earned run on five hits and a walk, but allowed four runs total in 2.2 innings. She struck out four.
