Sentimore verbally commits to Alabama

Destrehan High School defensive tackle Darrington Sentimore has verbally committed to play for Nick Saban and the University of Alabama. Sentimore was considered the second best defensive tackle in the state of Louisiana behind Mansfield High School’s Chris Davenport and the 20th best defensive tackle in the nation by Rivals.com.

The 6-2 ½, 275-pound Sentimore, who liked LSU and visited Baton Rouge for the LSU-Mississippi State game, was not offered a scholarship by Les Miles and the Tigers.

Sentimore, who recorded 16 quarterback sacks as a junior, was offered football scholarships by Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Auburn, Oklahoma and Tennessee before selecting the University of Alabama.

The Destrehan standout defensive lineman will be coached at Alabama by former LSU defensive lineman Bo Davis, who spent four seasons at LSU under Saban and current LSU head coach Les Miles as an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2002-2005.

Sentimore becomes the second Louisiana-product to commit to play for Saban since he took over the head coaching spot in 2007. This past February John Curtis High School star defensive back Robby Green decided to sign on with the Crimson Tide.
