This week’s Off to College and Beyond Player of the Week is LSU swimmer and DHS grad Kevin Braud who won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.08 seconds and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:47.36 at the Texas A&M meet on Saturday. He also placed second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:30.83) and sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (51.07).

Eugene’s 29 leads SMU to win
Southern Miss guard and DHS grad Amber Eugene led the Lady Golden Eagles with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 steals to go along with 2 assists in the Lady Golden Eagles’ victory over Central Florida on Saturday.

Stewart helps lead Xavier over Belhaven
Xavier guard and DHS grad Mark Stewart scored 14 points with 2 assists and a rebound in the Gold Rush’s victory over Belhaven on Saturday.

Stock solid for Lady Blazers
Belhaven guard and DHS grad Meagan Stock had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the Lady Blazers’ loss to Xavier on Saturday. She also had 7 points, 4 assists and a rebound in the team’s loss to LSU-Shreveport last Thursday.

Strickland breaks into double digits
Loyola forward and HHS grad McArthur Strickland had 10 points and 2 rebounds in the Wolfpack’s loss to Dillard last Thursday. He also had 6 points, 3 rebounds and an assist in the team’s loss to Tougaloo on Saturday.

Basketball Notes
Mississippi College guard and DHS grad Jaszmine Eugene had 8 points, 2 rebounds, a steal and a block in 2 games for the Choctaws’ this past week.
