This week’s Off to College and Beyond Player of the Week is Xavier guard and DHS grad Mark Stewart who scored a team-high 25 points to go along with 3 assists and 2 rebounds in the Gold Rush’s victory over SUNO last Thursday. He also led the team with 21 points to go along with 3 assists, a rebound and a steal in the team’s victory over Dillard on Saturday. He also had 15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals in the Gold Rush’s victory over William Carey last Monday

Eugene solid against Tulane

Southern Miss guard and DHS grad Amber Eugene had 15 points, 7 rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in the Lady Golden Eagles’ loss to Tulane on Friday. She added 3 points, 5 rebounds and a steal in the team’s loss to UTEP on Sunday.

Lumar finding success

Bossier Parish guard and HHS grad Reginald Lumar has been finding success recently as he has 15 points and 3 assists in a game against Shreveport, 14 points and 2 steals against Port Arthur, 12 points and a block against Stephen F. Austin and 8 points against Kilgore.

Scott breaks into double digits

Copiah-Lincoln guard and HHS grad Whitney Scott scored 10 points for the 16-1 Lady Wolves in their victory over Hinds Community College last Thursday.

Basketball Notes

Mississippi College guard and DHS grad Jaszmine Eugene had 7 points, 4 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 2 games for the Choctaws’ this past week. Belhaven guard and DHS grad Meagan Stock had 6 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, a block and a steal in 2 games for the Lady Blazers this past week. Loyola forward and HHS grad McArthur Strickland had 6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist in 4 games for the Wolfpack this past week.
