Lady Tigers knock off Terrebonne, fall to ESJ

Janet Marshall scored 17 points to lead the Hahnville Lady Tigers to an important 52-45 win against Terrebonne on the road.

Hahnville (6-14, 2-4) took control early thanks to Marshall and held off a late Terrebonne rally for the victory. Lady Tiger head coach Phillip Bychurch was impressed with his squad’s performance, especially on the road.

“The key to the victory was being aggressive and playing hard, tough defense,” he said.

Hahnville’s win against Terrebonne followed a tough, 74-31 loss to Destrehan a few days earlier. Bychurch said his team showed a lot of heart in their ability to bounce back from that loss and pick up a victory.

“It shows that if you work hard, good things happen,” he said.

Ru’yanna Bossier added 11 points in the win.

Despite the confidence gained in the win, the Lady Tigers were unable to slow down East St. John (10-9, 4-2) on Friday. Harley Morris led Hahnville with 13 points, while Marshall added 10 points in the 56-41 defeat.

“We played hard but made too many mistakes at crucial times,” Bychurch said of the loss. “We also missed too many free throws. It’s hard to overcome deficits when you can not convert.”

The Lady Tigers finished 14 for 31 from the free throw line.
