Lady Cats rout Central Lafourche in 14-0 shutout

Destrehan’s Lady Wildcats scored eleven runs in the first inning against Central Lafourche in Tuesday’s 14-0 shutout win.

An RBI single off the bat of junior Krista Robles in the first inning, another RBI single by junior Amanda McNaughton, a two run single by senior Morgan Foret and an RBI single by Taylor Lucich in the second inning assisted Destrehan in putting up runs early in the contest.

McNaughton scored three runs and went 3-for-4 on the day. Robles pitched a shutout over five innings.

The win allowed Destrehan to rebound from a tough week. Destrehan dropped four out of the six they played last week. While Thibodeaux, Deridder, St. Amant and St. Joseph’s Academy all handed Destrehan a loss, Ascension High School and H.L. Bourgeois fell to Lady Wildcats on Sunday and Monday

Destrehan played host to Thibodaux High School on Thursday, falling 2-1. Robles went the full seven innings giving up five hits, three walks and  recording two strike outs. The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when Thibodaux scored two runs in the top of the frame.

The Lady Wildcats denied the shutout victory in the bottom of the sixth when Foret hit a solo home run over the center field fence.

On Saturday, Destrehan scored its first runs off Ascension Catholic in the sixth inning after trailing by three early. Robles gave up just three hits, walked two and struck out one, but allowed no earned runs in more than six innings.

Kaela Schiro and Amanda McNaughton each scored one run in the bottom of the sixth. Lucich crossed home plate in the top of the sixth off a Robles fly ball single to right field.

Senior Haley Draughton scored after tagging up and Katie Huszar stole home in the top of the seventh. The Lady Cats stayed out in front until the last out to win the game.

After the win, the Lady Cats fell to DeRidder, St. Amant and St. Joseph before rebounding to knock off H.L. Bourgeois and Central Lafourche.
