Lady Cats beat Morgan City, Terrebonne in Catfish Classic

The Destrehan softball team opened up district play with a 16-0 thrashing of Higgins and then went 2-1 in the Catfish Classic with victories over Morgan City and Terrebonne.

The Lady Cats (9-4) cruised past Higgins, scoring 16 runs on 14 hits. Fifteen of those runs came in the first inning. Abbie Hall went 3-for-3 in the game with a home run. Hall was also the winning pitcher for Destrehan.

Michelle Haydel went 3-for-3 with a double while Anna Hall went 2-for-2.

Destrehan 7 Morgan City 5

In the first game of the Catfish Classic, which was held at the West Bank Bridge Park last weekend, Destrehan held on to beat Morgan City, 7-5. Ashley Bolin picked up the win for the Lady Cats, while Michelle Haydel paced Destrehan with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double. Bailee Hurm went 2-for-4 in the game while Hall recorded a triple.

Destrehan 11 Terrebonne 0

Destrehan’s offense continued to excel in the second game of the classic, with the Lady Cats blanking Terrebonne 11-0. Hall got the win in the shutout, while Michelle Haydel went 2-for-3 with a double. Amanda Rodriguez scored three runs and went 2-for-4, while Nicole Haydel went 3-for-4 with a double. Bolin also had a big day, going 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.

Assumption 2 Destrehan 1

The Lady Cats suffered their only loss of the classic in the final game against Assumption. Destrehan managed only two hits.
