There was little doubt who would be named Destrehan’s Defensive Player of the Year, but junior linebacker RaeJuan Marbley’s selection became official.

Marbley was named his team’s Defensive Player of the Week a record six times this season. The Wildcats only played nine games all year.

Marbley finished with more than 80 tackles for the Wildcats and could often be found shutting down plays before they even developed in the back field. The 6’1. 221-pound linebacker’s best game of the season came in his team’s upset win over West Jefferson. In that game, Marbley finished with nine tackles, three assists, three tackles for loss and four sacks. Other notable performances this season include his 12-tackle effort against Bonnabel and a 13-tackle effort in his team’s overtime loss to HHS.
