Fishin’ in lake Cataouatche

The western part of neighboring Lake Cataouatche is frequented by many St. Charles Parish fishermen. So, anglers grab your pole. Here’s your fishing report. Large-mouth bass fishing is in full spawn now since the water temperature has climbed up to 61 degrees. The large female bass will be on the beds and holding tight.

Although the spawning bass won’t be feeding aggresively yet, they will still be catchable, and can find larger females and male large-mouths on the standard spring patterns.

Saugers are coming off the spawn now and will be feeding aggressively in the lake flats and deep structure.

Catfish spawning is right around the corner, but baitfish are becoming more active – it’s time to catch a bluegill and get the line in the water.
