To finalize a dominating performance, Hahnville drove the football down to the H.L. Bourgeois one yard line before relenting and letting time expire instead of tacking another score.
In the first of three must win games to keep their playoff hopes alive, eight Tigers scored and five quarterbacks took snaps as Hahnville (4-4, 3-2) did not punt once in their 48-6 victory over the H.L. Bourgeois Braves (0-8, 0-4).
Dylan Keller got off to a great return in his first start since he was sidelined with a shoulder injury in the second game of the season. On his second play from scrimmage Keller rattled off a 37-yard quarterback keeper deep into the H.L. Bourgeois territory.
After another Keller run for a first down, Sophomore running back Devonte’ Cravin, who got his first start of the year, scored on a seven-yard rushing touchdown to end the first series.
After Hanville’s defense forced the first of many three and outs on the night, the Tiger offense took over the ball at their own 10 yard line and drove 90 yards eating up the clock with big runs by Cravin and running back Lynn Simmons who capped the series with a 21-yard rushing touchdown.
On their next drive Keller completed a pass to Ricky Preston for a first down before tweaking his shoulder and leaving the game in the second quarter. Backup quarterback Logan Martindale would step in and hand the ball off to Simmons who scored his second rushing touchdown of the night.
The Tigers decided to try out their passing game in a two minute drill as the half was winding down and Martindale was intercepted, but Hahnville got the ball right back when defensive back Jai Knight scooped up an interception off an H.L. Bourgeois deflection. Unfazed from his interception only moments before Martindale threw a 46-yard bomb to wide receiver Brandon Singleton and the Tigers took a 28-0 lead into half.
Martindale struck again through the air on the first drive of the second half when Tyler Lamers made a leaping catch in the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown.
On the next drive the Braves would answer back their only score of the night on a 21-yard touchdown pass that was set up by three penalties on the Tiger defense.
For the remainder of the game Hahnville’s second and third teams would play and the Braves defense still could not stop them as the Tigers added a quarterback sneak for a touchdown by sophomore Mike Neal and a three yard rushing touchdown by junior fullback Bradley Aucoin that second team sophomore kicker Aaron Bourgeois followed up with a successful point after attempt to make the final score 48-6.
On the last series of the night sophomore quarterback Dylan Crockett and freshman quarterback Austin Perrin traded off at leading the offense and sophomore running backs Norquell Flowers and Drew Dunn shared carries as the Tigers took the ball to the one yard line as time expired.
