The bitter cold slowed the Tiger’s normally heated run game, but seemed to fire up quarterback Austin Perrin’s deep passing game.

The first touchdown came from a deep catch-and-run from Ricky Preston with 1:38 in the first quarter, the first of two touchdowns on the night for Preston.

The Hahnville defense created a great opportunity with 9:37 left in the half by ripping the ball out of the hands of a Tarpon runner, but fumbled the ball near the Tarpons’ 5-yard line on the very next play. The Tigers did not fumble at all in the 2nd half.

Though former starter Mike Neal made appearances last week, sophomore Austin Perrin took most of the snaps at the start of the first quarter. Neal took snaps later in the 2nd quarter, and gave the Tigers their last touchdown of the night off a roughly 40-yard sprint.

Preston opened up the second half with a kick returned for a touchdown, putting the Tigers up 28-0. Preston opened last week’s game against Central Lafourche with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

It was through the air where Hahnville saw most of its offensive productivity. Wide receiver Brandon Singleton had a fiery night, with two deep pass touchdown receptions, as well as one other reception where he was pushed out of bounds a yard from the goal line.

The defense, meanwhile, kept the Tarpons scoreless until 8:08 in the 4th quarter.

With a healthy 42-0 lead in the 4th, coach Nick Saltaformaggio offered his younger players the third opportunity this season to get Friday night playing experience. A second string defense in the fourth quarter allowed two Tarpon touchdowns, while an offense led by junior quarterback Dylan Crockett was unable to net further points for the Tigers.

The Tigers’ playoff seed was nearly helped by a Destrehan loss. Destrehan, however, ends the season undefeated after pulling off a late game comeback against East St. John.
