Hahnville rolls at Don Raymond Relays

As Hahnville hosted the Don Raymond Relays last Friday, the Tigers put on a dominating team-wide performance that would have made the event’s namesake proud. Both the HHS boys and girls took first place overall in their respective groups at the event, with the team’s competitors combining for 19 first place wins and 33 top three finishes.

The Tigers scored 182 points on the girls side while the boys scored 146, outpacing St. Amant, which finished second among both boys and girls. Destrehan was third on the girls side and fourth among boys.

The event is named for the late Don Raymond, who was the first African-American athlete in the state to become a four-sport letterman and the first to integrate Hahnville. Raymond tragically died in a car accident at the age of 16.
