Hahnville rebounds from tough loss with 52-33 win

The Hahnville Lady Tigers bounced back from a tough one-point loss to H.L. Bourgeois with a 52-33 victory over Central Lafourche Monday night.

In their loss last week to Bourgeois, the game came down to free throws. The Lady Tigers finished 14-for-23 from the stripe, which was a huge reason behind their 45-44 loss.

“We played real hard, but just did not finish at the end. The missed free throws hurt us,” Hahnville head coach Phillip Bychurch said.

The Lady Tigers also struggled from the floor in the fourth quarter, only hitting one of their 13. Harley Morris led the Lady Tigers with 14 points while Bailee Kaplan finished with 11 points.

“We had too many turnovers and did not score,” Bychurch said. “The team has to finish at the rim and take care of the basketball consistently.”

Hahnville did just that in their 52-33 win over Central Lafourche on Monday.

Ru’yanna Bossier led Hahnville with 14 points and Asia Jupiter added 11 points. The Lady Tigers led for a majority of the game and controlled the tempo of the contest, which Bychurch credited with the win.

“We were also able to finish and get rebounds to the outlet for fast breaks,” he said. “We had a high-tempo game with good pressure on the ball.”

Hahnville is currently 7-15 overall with a 3-5 record in district play. As they enter the final stretch of the season, Bychurch said his squad needs to improve from the free throw line and be prepared for each and every team they face.
