Hahnville girls fall to Chapelle, 40-37, in regional

Lady Tigers manage just 15 points in second half

Even though Hahnville jumped out to a 22-14 lead over Chapelle by the half, the Lady Tigers couldn’t hold on down the stretch as they suffered a 40-37 loss that ended their season.

Chapelle’s defense shut Hahnville down in the second half, allowing the Lady Tigers only 15 points in the final two quarters. Hahnville only managed five points in the third, which allowed Chapelle to close the gap.

With seven minutes left in the fourth, a three pointer by Chapelle’s Rae Sharp brought the Chipmunks to within a bucket at 28-27.

Chapelle took the lead shortly after and never looked back.

Emani White led the Chipmunks to the victory with 25 points. Hahnville was led in scoring by KaeLynn Boyd, who scored 16 points. Fellow Lady Tiger Rickell Preston scored 13 in the loss.

Hahnville advanced to the regionals by beating Denham Springs, 50-45, in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs.
