Hahnville falls to Mt. Carmel, 4-1, in second round of soccer playoffs

Mt. Carmel beat Hahnville 4-1 in girls soccer last week, elminating the Lady Tigers from the state playoffs.

Marqaux Fontana gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead just 11 minutes into the game, and Brooke Gros found the back of the net a few minutes later to increase the Mt. Carmel advantage to 2-0 early in the first half.

In the second half, Kelly Holahan and Caitlyn Robert each added scores to put the Cubs up 4-0. Hahnville’s only goal came in the final minute of the game when Amye Barre found the back of the net.

Hahnville, who won the District 8-1 championship with a perfect 12-0 record, beat Natchitoches Central 2-0 in the first round before falling to Mt. Carmel. While neither squad managed to get on the scoreboard in the first half of that game, the Lady Tigers put the game away in the second.

Taylor Laurent and Brandi Soignier both scored to push Hahnville into regionals.
