Hahnville crushes Bonnabel, 19-0, to open district play

The Hahnville softball team dominated Bonnabel, 19-0, to pick up their first district win of the season then went 2-1 in the Catfish Classic with victories over Vandebilt Catholic and Cabrini.

The Lady Tigers only needed three innings to knock off Bonnabel, scoring nine runs in the first and 10 in the second for the big victory. Hannah Haydel got the shutout win, while the Hahnville bats tore into the opposition.

Lauren Simar led the team from the plate with two triples and a double that scored four runs. Amye Barre had two doubles and two RBIs, while Alexandra Friloux finished with three RBIs. Summer Melancon and Megan Bush also had doubles in the game.

Hahnville 5 Vandebilt Catholic 0

The Hahnville defense remained tough in the first game of the Catfish Classic, which was held last weekend at the West Bank Bridge Park. Haydel struck out seven and allowed only three hits in a complete game victory.

Courtney Dutreix hit a two-run home run to lead the Lady Tigers to the win, while Melancon came through with a double. Barre and Taylor Hogan also had RBIs in the victory.

Hahnville 13 Cabrini 2

The Lady Tigers finally allowed some runs in the second game of the classic, but the offense did more than enough to make up for it in the 13-2 win.

Hope Mair hit a home run, while Dutreix, Bush and Pepper Baker each had two RBIs. Melancon, Barre, Friloux, Hogan and Haydel also brought in runs for the Lady Tigers.

Live Oak 6 Hahnville 1

The Lady Tigers suffered only their second loss all year in the final game of the classic. Mair brought in the only run of the game with a double in the fourth inning.
