Hahnville cross country team cruises to win at Houma Christian

Led by senior twins Bryce and Beau Robinson, who finished with times of 16:46 and 16:55, respectively, the Hahnville Tigers cross country team cruised to a win at Houma Christian.

“We had a pretty good idea what times we would have to run to win, so we just tried hitting that mark,” Bryce said. While the Hahnville twins finished in first and second place, Brandon McDonald of H.L. Bourgeois came in third with a time of 17:35. The team champion Tigers were followed by Assumption, who finished second in second place. Destrehan finished with 225 points for eighth place.

The Hahnville Lady Tigers also competed in the meet, finishing in fifth place. The Lady Wildcats of Destrehan came in seventh.

After their top finish, the Tigers set off to Walker for the Walker Shootout, which is regarded as one of the fastest meets in the state. While on most years that may be the case, this year was a bit different.  The rain was falling heavily for hours before the race, and completely soaked the course. It wasn’t until about 45 minutes before the race started that the rain ended, but the damage had been done.

Beau and Bryce Robinson had the lead at the one-mile mark, but by two miles Zachary Albright of St. Paul’s had taken control, with teammate Eric Coston following closely behind.  Albright ran the fastest time in the state this year, finishing in 15:00. Coston was second with a time of 15:12.  Bryce Robinson was third in 15:23, followed by Devyn Keith of John Curtis in 15:38 and Beau Robinson in 15:45.
