Hahnville boys finish second at Thibodaux cross country meet

A team that made a five hour drive doubled up and took first place in both the boys and girls races at the Tiger-Cardinal Invitational held at Peltier Park in Thibodaux.

Benton High, a 4A school in northwest Louisiana, is about 35 miles from Arkansas and 25 miles from Texas. Despite that drive they won the team titles despite finishing both races without an individual champion.

The Hahnville Tigers boys placed second, 36 points behind Benton, and the Destrehan Wildcats finished 11th out of 18 teams. On the girls’ side, the Lady Tigers finished 11th and the Lady Wildcats finished 13th out of 18.

Beau and Bryce Robinson, of Hahnville, won the boys race with ease. Bryce finished the 3.02 mile course in 15:45 and Beau finished in second place after a time of 16:04. The next closest runner was Drake Heinz of Benton, finishing in 17:29. The closest finisher in the Tigers’ district was Brandon McDonald, of H.L. Bourgeois, with a time of 17:41.

On the girls’ side, the race was won by Alicia Stamey of Episcopal of Baton Rouge in a time of 20:07. The first Lady Tiger to cross the finish line was Sarah Ockerman in 26:53 (40th). The first Lady Wildcat to finish was Alex Botne in 27:19 (43rd).

The Tigers will be back in action this week at South Terrebonne.
