Former HHS QB named Player of Year

Former Hahnville High School and current Louisiana College quarterback Easton Melancon was named Offensive Player of the Year for the American Southwest Conference.

Melancon, a sophomore, finished the season ranked second in the conference in both passing yards (2,973) and touchdowns (24). He led Louisiana College to its fourth runner-up finish in conference standings in the last five years.Melancon averaged 297 yards per game through the air and completed 53.3 percent of his passes.

Over the summer, Melancon was selected to the U.S. Under-19 National Team and helped lead the squad to a gold medal.Last year, Melancon was named the conference’s Freshman of the Year. In his first season at Louisiana College, he led the team to a 5-1 record in conference play while finishing second in the league in passing with 2,386 yards.
