Former Destrehan High School standout defensive tackle Darrington Sentimore has announced that he will give up his senior season of college football to turn pro early.
The 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive tackle played in 12 games and started nine in his only season at the University of Tennessee in 2012. He recorded 18 tackles, five tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries, four sacks and two pass break-ups for the Volunteers.
Sentimore was regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects in the state of Louisiana when he came out of Destrehan after recording 198 tackles and 22 sacks in his final two seasons of high school.
The former SuperPrep Magazine prep All-American selected Alabama over LSU during the recruiting process and was redshirted in 2009. In 2010 Sentimore played in 11 games as a reserve and he was in on nine tackles, one forced fumble and four quarterback hurries for the Tide.
Sentimore left Alabama to attend Gulf Coast Community College in 2011 and he finished the season with 39 tackles, five tackles for loss, seven sacks and a fumble recovery.
He signed on with Tennessee during the 2012 recruiting period.
I currently have Sentimore rated as a probable sixth or seventh round pick in the 2013 NFL draft.
Sentimore will work with renowned training guru Wyatt Harris at the Sonic Boom Training Center in Harahan this spring.
