Destrehan rebounds with wins over ESJ, Bonnabel

After dropping only their second district game of the year against John Ehret on Thursday, the Destrehan Wildcats rebounded to knock off East St. John and Bonnabel.

Destrehan’s loss to John Ehret knocked the Wildcats out of contention for a share of the district championship.

The Wildcats took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Ehret slowly came back and used two runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal the victory from the Wildcats.

Jace Weber led the Wildcats from the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double. Weber was the only Wildcat to record a hit, though Brennan Quigley finished with two RBIs. Quigley was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning and knocked a ground out in the fifth inning to score another run.

Brett Hymel suffered the loss for the Wildcats, giving up one earned run on six hits in six innings. Hymel struck out six in the game and walked only one.

 

Destrehan 11 East St. John 3

The Wildcat offense got back on track against East St. John, recording 11 hits on their way to a big win.

Quigley led the team from the plate, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs and two doubles.

Ryan Burks finished a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two doubles, while Jesse Bryant, Kade Granier and Michael Smith also drove in runs in the game.

Granier got the win for Destrehan, allowing eight hits and one earned run in seven innings. He finished with three strike outs.

The Wildcats scored multiple runs in every inning on their way to a blowout win over Bonnabel.

Burks led the team from the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBIs. Jacob Marino was 1-for-1 with two RBIs, while Brock Benedetto, Granier, Hymel, Austin McDonald and Logan Babin also drove in runs in the win.

Ryan Brewer got the victory for the Wildcats, striking out 10 and giving up only two hits in five innings.

Destrehan will wrap up the regular season on Thursday when they host Hahnville.

The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
