Destrehan offense explodes in fifth to throttle Lutcher

Behind a 7-run fifth inning, the Destrehan Wildcats beat Lutcher 11-4 on Tuesday.

Lutcher took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and kept Destrehan off the board until the third, when the Wildcats scored four runs. Lutcher scored a run in the fifth to pull within one of Destrehan at 4-3, but the Wildcats exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the frame to put the game away.

Rodrigo Rodriguez had a bases-loaded double to pace Destrehan’s big inning. Ryan Burks finished with three hits and two RBIs while Ryan Brewer had two hits for the Wildcats.

Destrehan will take part in the Jay Patterson Memorial Tournament this weekend, but will return home next weekend to host the Gerard Oubre Memorial Tournament.
