Destrehan inflicts ‘mercy’ on Bourgeios

The Destrehan Fighting Wildcats decimated H.L. Bourgeios 13-1 in five innings in a win on Monday at home.

Bourgeois drew first blood by putting up a run in the top of the second inning, but Destrehan came roaring back with three of their own in the bottom of the second.

Destrehan senior Logan Krajcer hit a base hit to score Nathan Pilutti, senior Erik Vinnett tripled to right field to bring in junior Jared Montz, and Vinnett scored himself on a Bourgeios balk.

Destrehan sophomore Kohen Granier doubled to left field in the bottom of third scoring junior Val Gubert. Granier scored on a passed ball and Montz came around the horn on an error to put the sixth run on the board.

Another six runs in the bottom of the third assured the win for Destrehan. Senior Louis Kieffer put the finishing touches on in the fifth inning after scoring off Brandon Robichaux’s double to left field. The mercy rule was put into effect as the game ended in five innings of play.

Nick McClendon got the win on the hill allowing one run over four innings and striking out three. He walked two and gave up just three hits.
