Destrehan High turf vandalized following football’s title clench

Only five days after winning their second straight Class 5A state championship, the Destrehan Wildcats were attacked by a foe that they couldn’t prepare for. Vandals broke into the Wildcats’ stadium last week and spray painted obscene messages and other graffiti all over the school’s brand new turf field.

Though school workers immediately began the process of cleaning off the turf, damage is estimated to cost in the thousands.

“It’s so sad that someone would think to do that,” Rochelle Cancienne-Touchard, the director of public information for the St. Charles Parish school system, said. “So much effort, not to mention tax dollars, went into that field.”

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about this crime to contact them at 985-783-6807 or 985-783-1145.
