Defense leads Lady Tigers to 53-29 victory over DHS

The Lady Tigers played one of their best games of the year against rival Destrehan, using a stellar defensive effort to cruise to a 53-29 win.

With the victory, the Lady Tigers move to 11-11 on the season and are currently 3-1 in district. Meanwhile, the Lady Wildcats are 1-3 in district with an overall record of 14-13.

“After losing our district opener to St. Amant, we have finally gotten all our injured players back and are playing solid basketball,” Hahnville head coach Kevin Robicheaux said. “I am very pleased at the way the team is coming together.

“They are playing unselfish and extremely hard on the court.”

The Lady Tigers loss to St. Amant was a heartbreaker, with the team falling in the final seconds by a 31-33 score.

After that though, Hahnville stopped East St. John 47-43 and then knocked off East Ascension 40-36.

In each of the wins, the Lady Tigers have been getting things done on the defensive side of the ball.

“Defensively we are coming together, which has been a ‘norm’ for the Lady Tiger basketball teams of the past,” Robicheaux said.
