Apply now for summer camp

The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is now taking applications for its 2014 Inclusive Summer Day Camp.

The camp is scheduled to run from June 2 until July 10 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday through Thursdays for campers ages 5 through 12 and ages 5 through 22 for campers with developmental disabilities. Potential attendees should register early, as there is limited enrollment at each site.

Fees are $250 per camper. The deadline to register is May 5, and there will be a $50 late charge for applications submitted after that date.

Campsites include Ethel Schoeffner Elementary in Destrehan, Lakewood Elementary in Luling, St. Rose Elementary in St. Rose and Luling Elementary in Luling.

One free t-shirt is included with the camp rate, and additional shirts may be purchased for $5 each. Before and after care is available for a one-time additional fee of $300 at the Lakewood and Schoeffner sites. The fee must be paid in full prior to camp starting.

Activities will include team sports, arts and crafts, board games, music, a talent show, outdoor activities, movie time, field trips and much more. Tutoring is available at the Ethel Schoeffner site; please call (504) 722-3636 for more information.

Saturday information and registration day will be held from 9 a.m. until noon May 3 at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling. T-shirts will be available for purchase on that date.
