Anglers take home cash in fishing tourney

Thirty-four boats filled with more than 60 fishermen competed in this year’s Fishing for Frankie tournament, which was held in Luling. Cash awards were paid out to the top six teams and plaques were awarded to those who finished first, second, third and caught the biggest bass.

The tournament was held to benefit Noah Townsend, who has a rare disease called cardiomyopathy. The disease causes the deterioration of the heart muscle and eventually leads to heart failure. Townsend is currently in the hospital awaiting a heart transplant.

“The family is appreciative of everyone who supported the tournament in any way, shape or form and asks for continued prayers for Noah,” Fishing for Frankie chair Audrey Raziano said.

Steven and Adam Rockweiler caught the biggest bass at the tournament and the other winners were; 6th place – Doug Matheny and Norman Bolotte; 5th place – Masimo Vasquez and Kerry Dempster; 4th place – David and Greg Courdonnay; 3rd place – Michael Barfield; 2nd place – Ritchie Friloux and Johnny Polk; 1st place – Scott and Brooks Webre. Denise Ford also won a Cajun Fishing Adventures trip with guide Ryan Lambert. Gail Tobin won the 50/50 raffle. The winners are pictured in the above photo with the children of the tournament’s namesake, Frankie Champagne Jr.
