After tough start, Tigers rebound with 3 straight wins

With the beginning of district play less than a week away, the Hahnville baseball team seems to be coming together at the right time.

At one point this season the Tigers were 4-9, but last week the squad won three straight over Lutcher, Thibodaux and Salmen to improve to 9-12 on the season.

Despite allowing three runs to Lutcher in the first inning, the Tigers rebounded in the third and fourth frames for eight runs and then held off a late Lutcher rally for the 8-6 victory.

Tyler Simmons led the Tigers to the win with five RBIs on two hits. Simmons doubled in the third to bring in a run and hit a grand slam in the fourth to put his team on top. Connor Lorio, Cody Farrell and Mike Ford also drove in runs in the game.

Jake Cologne got the win for Hahnville, allowing three runs on two hits in 3.1 innings.

 

Hahnville 3 Thibodaux 2

Even though Thibodaux out hit the Tigers 6-4, Hahnville squeaked by with a slim victory.

Thibodaux led 1-0 after the first inning, but the Tigers added runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings for the 3-2 win.

Mike Ford led Hahnville from the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Ford singled in the fourth and sixth innings. Tyler Lamers had Hahnville’s only RBI.

The Tigers were aggressive on the base paths, finishing with six steals. Ford and Lorio each had two stolen bases, while Ty Cologne and Dylan Keller finished with one stolen base each.

Brooks Vial got the win for Hahnville, giving up six hits and two runs in seven innings of work. Vial struck out two in the game.

 

Hahnville 16 Salmen 7

Hahnville managed to score 16 runs on only five hits against Salmen. The Tigers trailed 7-2 after the third inning, but scored 11 runs in the fourth to put the game away.

Farrell led the team from the plate, finishing with five RBIs on two hits. Farrell singled in the fourth and doubled in the fifth inning.

Ford drove in two runs in the game, while Travis Faucheux, Keller, Simmons, Lamers, Easton Melancon, Ty Cologne and Matt Fontenot each finished with an RBI.

Garret Smith got the win for the Tigers, allowing no runs in .2 innings.
