The 8th Annual Avra Johnson Ramsay Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Willowdale Country Club in Luling. Due to overwhelming interests, for the first time, the tournament will host two flights with the morning flight teeing off at 8 a.m. and the afternoon flight begins at 1 p.m.
This tournament was created eight years ago by Russell and Di Lauve after the sudden death of Avra Johnson Ramsay, 21, who left behind a husband and their 2 year old son, Grayden.
Avra was a former St. Charles Parish resident and the daughter of Stephen and Cindy Johnson of Paradis and Janice (Tissie) Gray of Houston, TX.
Proceeds from this tournament will provide a $3,000 scholarship to a Hahnville High School graduate.
The format is an 18 hole, 4-man scramble with an entry fee of $80 per player.
The fee includes cart, green fees, jambalaya, a pig roast, all you can eat and drink, door prizes and ditty bags containing awesome gifts.
A DJ will keep the music playing all day long. Several raffle tickets will be available to purchase for $1 with a chance to win a BBQ pit, an LSU fishing rod, a jambalaya pot and a charter fishing trip as well as tickets for 50/50 chance.
Participants will also have a chance to place a bid on several auction items including New Orleans Saints Memorabilia, tickets to the Arena Bowl, tickets to a VooDoo game, tickets to the 2009 Sugar Bowl and a Seafood table valued at $800.
