Games, learning stations and door prizes will await attendees when St. Charles Parish Public Schools hosts its annual Kindergarten Readiness Night.
This year’s carnival-themed event will be held Feb. 10 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the R.K. Smith Cafeteria, located at 281 Edward Dufresne Pkwy. in Luling. No registration is required, and it is open to the public.
“The Kindergarten Readiness Carnival is such an awesome opportunity for both children and their families to gain information needed to be better prepared for entering kindergarten,” District Title I Coordinator Lacey Powers said. “Information that will be shared will include ideas and activities for families about math, literacy and social skills that will be needed at the beginning of kindergarten. We hope to see all of our future St. Charles Parish Public Schools students and their families at this event.”
Powers said the readiness night is geared towards children ages birth to 5 years old, and that older siblings are welcome to attend. There will be food available for purchase at the event.
In addition to the readiness night, Powers said the school district’s Title I employees facilitate other opportunities for families to engage with their young children and enjoy educational programming. Two of these opportunities include weekly playgroups that are held at elementary schools across the district, as well visits on the SCPPS Learn With Us Bus.
