We felt like dancing in the rain

Watching the rain pour down in St. Charles Parish Monday was one of the greatest sights we have had in quite a while. It made us want to go out and dance in it!
It was like a good old-fashioned Louisiana rainfall. The kind we used to experience almost every week several decades ago.

We didn’t like such rainfalls then. After all, they stymied our social activities.

We didn’t give it much thought as to how it was growing our vegetation and replenishing our fresh water supplies.

But since then, we have had drought after drought after drought. Rainy Louisiana was becoming the sunshine state.

The heat waves were taking the place of rainfalls in impairing our lives. Ground began cracking and some of our slabs, too.

We hope things are back to normal in Louisiana, now that the rain has begun to pour. We hope former Vice President Al Gore was wrong in predicting that our present-day carbon dioxide emissions would make us drier and drier.

Come on, rain. We like the way you came down Monday. It was like the good old days.

We didn’t realize how much good it did back then. But we sure do now.

Keep it up.
