Show will highlight St. Charles businesses

Residents of St. Charles will have an opportunity this weekend to find out a lot about what types of businesses are available to them in their parish. The Business and Craft Showcase of St. Charles will be held Friday from noon to 5 p. m. and Saturday from 9 a. m. to 2 p. m. at the Hahnville High School gymnasium.

The annual event was started by St. Charles Business Association some 20 years ago to let local residents know what types of businesses are available for their use within their own community. With a major city next door, it is easy to overlook them.

And in the years since, the event has done a good job in spreading the word about products and services available. It has also helped to bond local businesses to work together and make St. Charles Parish a more inviting place to shop and do business. It has certainly helped to improve the retail economy.

Many events will be added this year to help make the event even more fun and informative to attend. Among them will be Zumba classes, taekwondo self defense demonstrations for women, the popular game show “Minute to Win It” and a putt-putt course.

Food will be available and children are welcome. So plan to make a day of it Saturday or Sunday. By doing so, you will learn a lot about what is available in St. Charles Parish right next to your home and have a lot of fun doing it.
