A first impression is always important, and because of that the St. Charles Parish administration has been busy designing a new parish Web site, with plans to improve the Hahnville courthouse lawn also on tap.
Since Parish President V.J. St. Pierre first took office, he has made it a priority to tidy up the outside of the courthouse by trimming trees and bushes and planting new flowers. Now, the parish plans to install a pavilion on the courthouse’s front lawn so that the area will be more accommodating when it comes to hosting public events.
Dow has already donated $50,000 to the project, which is still in its formative stages.
While that project is still in the planning phase, the parish will unveil its new, state-of-the-art government Web site on Jan. 12.
The site, designed over the last four months by Vision Internet of Santa Barbara, Calif., boasts better-organized navigation, a master calendar of parish meetings and events and improved streaming video, news and pictures of community events and government happenings.
The site will also feature improved functionality in doing business with the parish, including online bill payment, feedback forms and updated information for each parish department.
Residents will also be able to sign up for personalized e-mail newsletters depending on their areas of interest. The site’s content management system allows department representatives to update their own sections, keeping information organized and up-to-date.
“This site will prove to be a powerful tool for those already here, and we’re hoping it will help attract residents and business to our great parish,” St. Pierre said.
With a state-of-the-art first impression like that, attracting those residents and businesses shouldn’t be a problem.
